Common Moving Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
A move can look organized until one missed detail creates a problem. Many moving mistakes start before moving day. Late planning, no inventory, packing without a system, or assuming the new home will be ready once boxes arrive can all lead to extra work later.
Start with a simple timeline built around fixed dates. Complete a room-by-room inventory, including closets, garages, and storage. Label boxes by room, contents, and priority. Measure furniture and the full route into the new home, including doorways, hallways, stairs, and elevators.
Confirm parking, elevator reservations, and building rules before moving day. Plan the first rooms to make functional, like sleeping areas, bathrooms, and basic kitchen access. If beds, desks, or storage furniture need assembly, arrange that support as part of the move, not after. We offer move-in support, furniture assembly, IKEA assembly, TV mounting, and junk removal to handle those handoff tasks.
